The artistic 'career' of Tonny Hamers-Drummen (Heerlen 1944) started with drawing lessons at the Free Art Academy, followed with drawing lessons from her uncle, the late Sjef Drummen, a famous Dutch artist.
Her current passion for modeling in clay and wax was roused in the eighties when she attended a biennial creativity course, where every possible technique in art and craft was taught. After this, the passionated artist/teacher Jef Thewissen coached her during two decades and was a constant source of inspiration and stimulation.
Her great examples are Moore, Chadwick, and especially Allan Houser, an indian artist, who was a master of reducing forms to its essention.
Tonny's working procedure is to modify a body/symbol/object in a collection of sculptures. So astonishing forms evolve,.
The elementary power, interlaced with harmony and controversy, shows that Tonny's personal impressions shape the entity.
